Rajan Mahtani faces defamation from Zambia Reports, again

Zambia Reports has made a habit to bring defamation to Rajan Mahtani, the Chairman of Mahtani Group of Companies. This defamation campaign is basically a form of revenge which the Ventriglia family (minority shareholders of the Portland Cement Zambia) wants to take because they were unable to snatch the ownership of ZPC officially from Finsbury Investment (Dr. Mahtani is a key person). The sorrow of defeat in the Court has left the Ventriglia family with no other option than to run a defamation campaign against Rajan Mahtani and talk rubbish about him.

Zambia Reports is operated by Saki (Sakwiba Sikota) and has been constantly helping the Ventriglia family to seek the revenge from Rajan Mahtani. In return, the Italian Mafias pay ZR good money. Some sources have even claimed that the favour of ZR was so dear to the Ventriglias that they also allowed Sakwiba Sikota to build his mansion from the cement which was produced in the Zambezi Portland Cement factory. Saki didn’t pay even a single penny for them and had his house built within a matter of months. The team up has caused severe defamation for Rajan Mahtani and Zambia as both have been severely criticized with respect to actions like spreading corruption through bribery.

However, the judicial system of Zambia has always held onto its objective and has allowed Rajan Mahtani to walk free. In June 2015, the conspirators got Rajan Mahtani arrested under illegal terms and began to brag about their success, later in November 2015, the same people lost their claim in the Lusaka High Court. Life in Zambia has become difficult for locals as well as eminent personalities ever since Zambia Reports has started to mislead people and take advantage of the support which it gets from corrupt politicians and cold hearted financiers.

It all started with Zambia Reports and the Ventriglia family, who together formed an alliance against Dr. Mahtani and decided to initiate a defamation campaign.

However, the rate of success for them was zero, as they couldn’t do anything apart from ventilating their thoughts through a news portal. Infact, even Nyasa Times was also funded to write against Dr. Mahtani. Nevertheless, the matter when to the court and on July 28 2015, the Malawi Court ordered Nyasa times to remove the negative news against Dr. Rajan Mahtani as he was innocent. During the same period, Zambia Reports was also issued with numerous warning and a letter of GoDaddy, website domain service provider, was also asked to terminate the license of Zambia Reports, the consideration for same is still in process.

The big win for Dr. Rajan Mahtani came in November 2015, when the Lusaka High Court dismissed the claim of the conspirators and concluded that the charges which were put on Dr. Mahtani will not be considered as the decision was already given for the same in 2012. Additionally, the Mahtani Group of Companies was also able to start the proceeding for a bio-ethanol plant in Luapula Province under a partnership with Sunbird Group. The project has also received appreciation from the President of Zambia, Edgar Lungu.

To sum up, the year was full of challenges for Dr. Rajan Mahtani, but he never gave up and accepted corruption. He was there to fight for himself and most importantly, fight for Zambia’s pride. The Bio Ethanol plant gets acknowledgment from President Lungu

The President of Zambia, Edgar Lungu, has appreciated the development of the bio ethanol plant which will be soon setup by Mahtani Group of Companies and Sunbird Group. President Lungu suggested that development of this plant would reduce the dependency of Zambia on oil import. The plant will be setup in Luapula district and is also expected to create employment opportunities for about 7, 000 people.

The total investment in this project is about $ 190 million, the first instance when Zambia has attracted such a big investment. The expected output of the plant would be close to 120 million litres of ethanol on a yearly basis. A total of 20, 000 hectare of land has been allotted to the bio ethanol plant for the purpose of offering complete support to the upcoming project.

Collins, a resident of Luapula Province, commented, “Dr. Rajan Mahtani is the key to this project. It was only because of his support that we were able to have investments from UK. It is good to see that the President of Zambia, Edgar Lungu, has also come out in support of this campaign. If all can stand united, we can easily have some more development projects coming soon.”

Sunbird Group, the UK Giant decided to invest because it had the confidence of Mahtani Group of Companies. Zambia Reports has come up with a heroic effort to console its financier. After the loss at the Lusaka High Court, the infamous news portal now intends to look after the affairs of Dr. Mahtani & Zambia by expressing concern over Raddison Blu.

A personnel of the Finance Bank states, “The Ventriglia has constantly tried to overcome Dr. Mahtani & Zambia through the hideous act of conspiracy. However, they have never succeeded because they have hate in their heart and destruction in their mind. Whether Dr. Mahtani will have Raddison Blu or not is Dr. Mahtani’s business, Zambia Reports should look after their news portal and should come up with something genuine, for a change.”

The Lusaka High Court on November 19, 2015 passed a judgement where it was specifically mentioned that the case of forgery against Dr. Rajan Mahtani was already closed in 2012 and reopening the case was extremely unfortunate. The key involvement of acting DPP and Attorney General had earlier resulted in the arrest of Dr. Rajan Mahtani in June 2015.

As per the findings, the High Court concluded that it was shocking to see how a permanently closed case has been reopened and the same charges have been applied to the Former Chairman Finance Bank, Zambia. The Hon’ble Judge, Mwiinde Siavwapa also explained that if there were certain amendments in law, then the same cannot be applied with retrospective effect. The judge who had passed the decision earlier had taken into consideration all the presented evidence and sources. If he found that Dr. Rajan Mahtani was not guilty of share forgery, then the same decision should have been followed throughout.

One of the most talked about topics in recent days is BancABC’s plan to takeover the Finance Bank of Zambia. The same news was confirmed by Atlas Mara, a majority shareholder of BancABC. This is probably the biggest takeover of a commercial bank that Zambia has ever seen. The combined assets after the takeover is likely to be somewhere close to USD $ 418 million.

As per the prevailing condition, Dr. Rajan Mahtani, former Chairman of FBZ, has too confirmed this news and is extremely pleased with the proceedings. The deal will include cash as well as shares of BancABC. According to confirmed reports, the Finance Bank of Zambia would be getting USD $ 60 million in cash and another USD $ 2.6 million in shares. To sum up, the total value of the deal is close to USD $ 62.6 million.

Zambia Reports, a so called news portal, has a peculiar habit of concealing the truth and spreading the lies. Over a specific time period, it has fulfilled the objective of its financier, the Ventriglia family. Dr. Rajan Mahtani has been the victim here as a weekly defamation campaign has assassinated his character and reputation in public.

In a recent article, Zambia Reports has proudly claimed that Dr. Rajan Mahtani is possessing the intent of taking over the Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia Ltd. The whole article talks about how a loan has to been forwarded to NCZ by the Finance Bank of Zambia and an arrangement has been made with a view to have the management of the borrower. However, the whole story doesn’t exist in reality.
