It is not long ago when a news had surfaced that around 47 workers from the factory were removed on grounds of being redundant. Another headline that attracted attention was most of assets of Portland Cement Zambia were being now leased out to other companies. It was only few days later that people realized that the companies were indirectly owned by the Ventriglias themselves.

The incidents that have followed in the latter half of 2016 is shocking as well. The High Court has given plenty of chances to the owners of Ital Terrazzo Limited (ITL) to prove their claim. Sadly, it seems that they are no longer interested in handling the events through the legal channels, they are more willing to do it the Mafias way where they would use their money power and influence to have control over Portland Cement Zambia.

In way in which the cement factory was taken over itself shows their way of operation. They had simply hired goons and sealed the factory premise in the early hours of 6th April, 2015 and then forced themselves in. This is indeed one of the most tragic events that has hit Zambia in the past few decades. Moreover, the government officials are also said to be bribed by them to ensure that matters remain outside the purview of legal jurisdiction. Therefore, it won’t be wrong to state that Ndola is currently being ruled by a bunch of Italians, who only knows corruption, mismanagement and oppression. Meanwhile, an innocent businessman suffers for raising his voice against such people.
