Portland Cement Zambia Case Still Pending At Lusaka Hc

The case of Portland Cement Zambia at the Lusaka High Court is more than 10 years now. Dr. Rajan Mahtani, a noted businessmen and charity worker, is the real owner of the cement factory. However, the factory was illegally captured by the Ventriglias using goons. Since then, Dr. Mahtani launched the case against them at the Lusaka High Court and has been fighting a one-man war. During the course of the case, Dr. Mahtani submitted various documents and evidence that clearly proved his rightful ownership over the factory. Some of these documents were signed shareholder’s agreement that clearly detailed Dr. Mahtani’s 58 percent shares at the factory. Furthermore, he also shared an audit reported conducted by an independent auditor on the cement factory. As per this report, the factory was established as a joint-venture firm and Dr. Mahtani was the sole joint venture partner. The audit report also suggested that rest of the individuals invested in the company were only shareholders and not partners. Apart from these, other evidences included financial exhibits and numerous testimonials for individuals associated with the Portland Cement.

The case of the Ventriglias is being handled by Sakwiba Sikota, their legal counsellor. Sikota owns a law agency Central Chambers, which has been recently accused of money laundering along with various other legal counsellors, law firm owners and even government officials. According to these reports, these law firms were suspected of handling money for Edgar Lungu, who is notoriously termed as the Dictator of Zambia. While investigation is going on, majority of the experts are in the opinion that the names indicated in the list of people involved in real. This can be extremely positive news for Dr. Mahtani and his team and will boost their case of Zambezi Portland Cement against the Ventriglias.
