Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, a noted businessman and philanthropist in Zambia, was recently awarded one of the most prestigious and recognized business and leadership awards in Africa. This award is known as the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ award and is given to visionaries and philanthropists with long-term achievements in the field of philanthropy and empowerment. Dr. Rajan Mahtani has made significant contributions to the growth and development of the Zambian nation. His contributions were finally recognized when Forbes awarded Dr. Mahtani with the ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ award in 2021. Dr. Mahtani was presented with this award for redefining the banking sector of Zambia. The Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards was presented during the ongoing FIN (Foreign Investment Limited) philanthropy and leadership roundtable conference. It is one of the most anticipated and noted business events in Africa. The year 2019 saw the advent of the deadly coronavirus pandemic which continues to grip the entire world, taking businesses and the economy to a halt. While the year 2021 saw some improvement in businesses, economy, and government actions, it will still take years before the economy levels the pre-pandemic scenario. Africa is a continent that already faced significant political and economic challenges before the pandemic, and it was made worse.

However, things are looking brighter now and as such, it can be said that the government and businesses are trying to establish themselves again. Several events and conferences are now taking place and one of them was the Forbes-FIN philanthropy and leadership roundtable conference. The 2021 FIN event was held online because of the Covid-19 restrictions. Members participated from their respective locations and members included those from international business communities, spiritual leaders, religious leaders, political leaders, opinion leaders, entrepreneurs, international investors, businessmen, visionaries as well as media partners. Dr. Rajan Mahtani, who has established his name across Zambia, Africa as well as the globe, was invited to this event as an honorary speaker. Overall, both FIN philanthropy events, as well as the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards, were a complete success.
