Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani Supports Decision From Zambian President

In a latest announcement from the Zambian government, President Hakainde Hichilema announced his quest of abolishing the long-standing and brutal practice of death penalty. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, a noted businessman and philanthropist from Zambia, have fully supported this decision. Dr. Rajan Mahtani is a successful businessman, entrepreneur and philanthropist from Zambia with almost four decades of business experience and philanthropic contributions. He is the owner of several charitable contributions such as the Prison Fellowship Zambia, founded by Dr. Rajan Mahtani more than three decades ago. It is a top Christian Outreach Program that works towards bringing the teachings and gospel of Jesus towards the inmates, ex-inmates as well as their families. It also works towards bringing transparent criminal justice for the prisoners along with ensuring that the prisoners are not denied of fundamental human rights as well as human dignity.

The announcement by President Hichilema was made on the eve of Africa day and has since received positive reactions from across the nation. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, while adding voice to this decision from the President, stated that killing of convicts and giving them death penalty is no solution to the increasing criminal activities or crimes across the nation. Dr. Rajan Mahtani also stated that his company Prison Fellowship Zambia will provide full official support towards abolishing of this death penalty row. Dr. Mahtani also stated that there is a big difference between suggesting abolishment of death penalty and making it happen. However, Prison Fellowship will provide all forms of regulatory and legal requirements to ensure that this announcement is turned into a reality.

At the same time, Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani also praised President Hakainde Hichilema for making such a bold yet virtuous statement.
